BYD Sealion 5 Price in Pakistan

Short answer: there is no official BYD Sealion 5 price in Pakistan. As of 6 November 2026, Mega Motor Company (MMC), BYD’s official partner here, has not announced a price, a launch date or bookings, and BYD Pakistan’s website lists only the Atto 2, Atto 3, Seal, Sealion 7 and Shark 6. EVraah’s unofficial planning range for a fully imported (CBU) Sealion 5 is roughly Rs 11.7 to 13.1 million (about Rs 1.2 to 1.3 crore). It is a low-confidence estimate built from Australian prices, not an MMC figure. If you want the BYD SUV you can buy today, read our BYD Sealion 7 price guide or compare every model in the BYD price list for Pakistan.

BYD Sealion 5 Price in Pakistan: What Is Confirmed and What Is Not

MMC sells BYD cars in Pakistan, and its own model list shows four battery-electric cars and one plug-in hybrid (the Shark 6 pickup), as summarised in our BYD price comparison. The Sealion 5 is not on it. The nearest signal is from HUBCO, MMC’s parent group. Its management said in an analyst briefing that local CKD production is targeted for December 2026, starting with the Sealion 6 plug-in hybrid, and that the Sealion 6, B8 and B5 are expected around the end of the year. The company is also evaluating further models, but it did not name the Sealion 5.

Not confirmed: price, launch date, variants, booking amount, warranty, charging connectors, and whether the car would arrive as a fully imported (CBU) or locally assembled (CKD) vehicle. Any rupee figure you see online is a currency conversion or a guess. Do not pay a deposit to anyone who says Sealion 5 bookings are open; MMC has announced none.

Which “Sealion 5” Is This? Sealion 05, Sealion 6 and Sealion 7 Explained

BYD’s naming is easy to mix up, and so are the search results. This guide covers the plug-in hybrid SUV that BYD sells as the Sealion 5 in the UK, Europe, Australia, Thailand and other markets.

NameWhat it isPakistan status
Sealion 5Five-seat plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV, 4,738 mm long, with a 12.96 or 18.3 kWh batteryNot announced

BYD Sealion 5 Expected Price in Pakistan: How We Estimated It

An expected price has layers, and only the first is arithmetic. For context, the Sealion 5 starts from A$33,990 before on-road costs in Australia (A$37,990 for the larger-battery Premium), and from £29,995 on the road in the UK, which includes 20% VAT.

Step 1: convert. At the State Bank of Pakistan’s 3 November 2026 rate of Rs 193.02 per Australian dollar, the two Australian prices convert to about Rs 6.6 and Rs 7.3 million. That is a floor, because it leaves out freight, customs duty, sales tax and dealer margin.

Step 2: calibrate against BYD cars that MMC already prices. We compare each model’s Pakistani price with its Australian price before on-road costs, using the same exchange rate. The Sealion 7 (Rs 15,490,000 against A$54,990) works out at about 1.46 times the straight conversion. The Shark 6 plug-in hybrid (Rs 19,950,000 against A$57,900) works out at about 1.79 times.

Australian gradePrice before on-road costsStraight conversionAt the Sealion 7 multiple (floor)At the Shark 6 multiple (planning range)
Essential (12.9 kWh)A$33,990Rs 6.6 millionRs 9.6 millionRs 11.7 million
Premium (18.3 kWh)A$37,990Rs 7.3 millionRs 10.7 millionRs 13.1 million

EVraah calculations, not BYD or MMC figures. Australian prices include 10% GST.

Step 3: pick the right column. The Sealion 7 is battery-electric, and battery-electric imports follow different tax rules. We therefore treat the Shark 6 column, the only BYD plug-in hybrid with a Pakistani price, as the planning range and the Sealion 7 column as a floor, not an expectation.

Why the range is wide and low-confidence

  • Plug-in hybrid taxes have moved. Sales tax on hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles rose to 25% from 1 July 2026, and our EV policy guide explains the cut to 18% for locally made hybrids and the proposed 9% rate for plug-in hybrids, which still needs legislation. We cannot tell whether the Shark 6 price already reflects the July change.
  • One comparator. A single pickup sets the planning range, and it may sit on a different tariff line from an SUV.
  • CBU or CKD is unknown. Local assembly would change the price, as the import duty guide explains for the CBU and CKD routes.

The estimate also has to survive the local market. A Rs 11.7 to 13.1 million Sealion 5 would sit roughly 7% to 21% above the locally assembled plug-in hybrids in the table further down. EVraah’s reading, which is an inference and not an announcement, is that a launch is more likely to wait for local assembly than to arrive as a fully imported car.

BYD Sealion 5 Specifications

These figures come from the UK, Australian and Thai specification sheets and are the best-documented versions. Specifications vary by market, and Pakistan’s, if the car arrives, could differ.

Compare range figures only within one test standard. NEDC reads more optimistic than WLTP, and our range standards explainer shows how big the gap can be. Only the UK and European WLTP numbers above are directly comparable with each other.

BYD Sealion 5 Battery, Range and Charging

The Sealion 5 is a plug-in hybrid, so it never depends on public chargers; the petrol engine covers long trips. What matters is how it charges at home, and that is where it differs most from the cars Pakistani buyers are used to.

  • AC charging is slow. UK, European and Thai specifications list 3.3 kW AC. Some Australian and Philippine listings show an onboard charger of up to 7 kW. Which one Pakistan would get is unconfirmed.
  • DC fast charging is market-dependent. UK, European and Australian cars have none. The Thai specification lists CCS2 DC charging at up to 18 kW. Treat any Pakistani DC claim as unconfirmed until MMC publishes one.
  • A bigger wallbox will not help a 3.3 kW car. The car’s onboard charger sets the ceiling, so a 7 kW wallbox charges it no faster than 3.3 kW. See our home EV charging guide before buying hardware.
Charging scenario (EVraah calculation, before losses)About 12.9 kWh pack18.3 kWh pack
3.3 kW AC, empty to fullAbout 3.9 hoursAbout 5.5 hours
7 kW AC (only if the car accepts it), empty to fullAbout 1.8 hoursAbout 2.6 hours

Published UK specifications quote about 4.5 hours and about 6 hours for 15% to 100% on AC, which allows for losses. BYD’s Pakistani cars use Type 2 for AC and CCS2 for DC, and our connector guide explains what to check. Use the EVraah charging map for stations and the route planner to plan intercity trips with a full battery.

Running Cost: Electricity Against Petrol

The electric range works out at roughly 0.21 kWh per km in the WLTP figures above (EVraah calculation). The table uses the illustrative home rate of Rs 50/kWh from our EV charging cost guide and the Rs 352.59 per litre petrol price for 6 November 2026. Petrol is repriced daily, so recheck it before relying on the comparison.

Electric driving, per km at homeAbout Rs 11
Petrol in hybrid mode, per km (Australian claim of 4.5 to 4.6 L/100 km)About Rs 16

These are claimed figures, and real-world electric range will be lower in summer heat and at motorway speeds. For the wider picture, read EV vs petrol running costs in Pakistan.

BYD Sealion 5 vs Sealion 6 vs Sealion 7

The Sealion 6 is the plug-in hybrid BYD is actually preparing for Pakistan, and the Sealion 7 is the one you can buy. Neither is a like-for-like substitute, but the table shows where the Sealion 5 sits.

Sealion 7 figures are from our Sealion 7 guide. Sealion 5 and Sealion 6 figures are for overseas specifications.

In plain terms, the Sealion 6 is the larger, slightly more powerful plug-in hybrid with faster home charging, and the Sealion 7 is a different kind of car altogether: electric-only, with far more battery and DC fast charging. Our guide to the types of EVs in Pakistan explains which powertrain suits which owner.

Would the Sealion 5 Suit Pakistani Conditions?

  • Home charging is essential. With 3.3 kW AC and little or no fast charging, the car delivers its savings only if you can plug in overnight. Without that, you would run mostly on petrol.
  • Heat. The battery is LFP, a chemistry that handles hot weather well; see our LFP vs NMC guide.
  • Ground clearance. About 156 to 175 mm is typical for a family SUV, but check it against your local speed breakers and flooded roads.
  • Service and parts. No Sealion 5 has been sold here, so workshop readiness, parts supply and resale value are unproven. BYD’s Pakistani cars carry a 6-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty and an 8-year or 160,000 km battery warranty, but nothing is confirmed for this model.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the BYD Sealion 5 price in Pakistan?

There is no official price. MMC has not launched the car or announced a Pakistani price. EVraah’s unofficial planning range for a fully imported car is Rs 11.7 to 13.1 million, and it is an estimate only.

When is the BYD Sealion 5 launching in Pakistan?

No date has been announced, and the Sealion 5 is not among the models named for the end of 2026. Local assembly of the Sealion 6 is targeted for December 2026, which could make more BYD plug-in hybrids possible later.

Are Sealion 5 bookings open in Pakistan?

No. MMC has announced no bookings for the Sealion 5. Treat any dealer or website claiming otherwise with caution and do not pay a deposit.

Is the BYD Sealion 5 electric or hybrid?

It is a plug-in hybrid: a 1.5-litre petrol engine, a 145 kW electric motor and a battery of about 12.9 or 18.3 kWh. It is not a pure electric car, so it can run on petrol when the battery is empty.

What is the electric range of the BYD Sealion 5?

On the WLTP cycle it is 62 km for the smaller battery and 86 km for the larger one. Thai-market figures of 80 km and 110 km use the more optimistic NEDC cycle. Combined range with a full tank is up to about 1,016 km on WLTP.

How does the BYD Sealion 5 charge?

Mostly on AC at about 3.3 kW, which takes roughly 4.5 to 6 hours from 15% to 100%. DC fast charging depends on the market: none in the UK, Europe and Australia, and up to 18 kW in Thailand. Pakistan’s specification is unconfirmed.

What is the difference between the Sealion 5 and the Sealion 6?

The Sealion 6 is slightly longer and more powerful, and it charges faster on AC and DC. It is also the plug-in hybrid BYD is preparing to assemble locally from December 2026, although it has no Pakistani price yet.

The BYD Sealion 5 price in Pakistan does not exist yet: no launch, no bookings and no MMC announcement. If it arrives as a full import, we estimate roughly Rs 11.7 to 13.1 million, and local assembly could change that. Until MMC speaks, compare the plug-in hybrids above, check chargers on the EVraah charging map and plan trips with the route planner. We will update this page when MMC announces anything.
